What’s actually in Moorpark tap water

Almost all Moorpark water is imported — about 99% originates in the Feather River watershed, moves south on the State Water Project, and is treated at Metropolitan’s Jensen plant. Moorpark also sits on top of a piece of local water infrastructure most people never think about: the Las Posas groundwater basin, which underlies the city and is where Calleguas banks surplus imported water for dry years. The supply meets every state and federal standard. It is also hard:

  • Total hardness: 146 ppm — about 8.5 grains per gallon (water drawn from Lake Bard runs 156 ppm)
